In a creative world where the boundaries between disciplines are increasingly blurred, it's time to highlight the possibilities for dialogue and collaboration that the different ways of understanding and approaching crafts have in Aragon. And also to elevate the esteem and value that handmade items hold in a virtual world. Of course, without neglecting the undeniable importance and contribution that technology and the networks offered by the internet have in the 21st century.
Aragón a Mano aims to bring this philosophy to life. It embraces the contemporary in its broadest sense, but also tradition, things made with time, patience, and care. Both, of course, go hand in hand.
On November 19th, this new project was presented to showcase the high craftsmanship of Aragon, which, in its first phase, has sought to unite crafts and artisan fashion, two worlds that have long understood each other perfectly and that in Aragon still have a long and interesting path to travel.
Aragón a Mano proposes a dialogue, of brands, of companies, of projects that seeks feedback, collaboration, brainstorming, the mixture of the traditional and the novel, the intergenerational, the surprising, the fruitful, how the ways of doing things that have always been done can also generate a path to the future, in the social, the cultural and, why not, in the economic and commercial.
"A mano" means familiar, everyday, and recognizable. It also, of course, means artisan. We want to honor manual skill, the tangible, the beautiful, and our roots. Aragón a mano aims to be a home for craftsmanship in its broadest sense, a hub from which to reach all of Spain and the world.
Thus, the selection of the first 10 artisans, who have already received their distinctive mark, and who have been selected to be part of this group of first ambassadors, are:
Gabriel Furriers , artisan furriers, Casa Alfaro, artisan palm weavers, Fernando Piró, traditional goldsmith, L'Amar, bespoke artisan tailoring, Berduque, fashion artisan, Araceli Sancho, hat maker, Loli Puértolas, artisan recycled jewelry, Original Dessin, fashion crafts, Casa Virgos, bespoke artisan tailoring and Susana Martín, glass artisan.
