Craftswoman Susana Martín takes her art to the Ibero-American International Biennial of Glass Art

Aragonese artisan talent is once again crossing borders and establishing itself on the international stage. The creator Susana Martín ( susanamartin.es ) was selected to participate in the 3rd edition of the prestigious Ibero-American International Biennial of Glass Art , held in Gramado, Brazil, one of the most important global events for enthusiasts and professionals of this noble craft.

Her participation has come in the form of a piece full of magnetism, poetry and a deep social critique entitled “In Search of a Dream” , created expressly under the theme of the biennial: “Oceans”.

"In search of a dream": a metaphor for life and fragility in glass dust

For this important event, Susana Martín has created a work of extraordinary sensitivity. Using glass powder, the artisan has captured an image inspired by a satellite view of one of the Canary Islands. A scene that, beneath its aesthetic beauty, conceals a heartbreaking reality: that of thousands of people who risk everything crossing the sea in pursuit of a better life, and whose dreams, all too often, are cut short at the bottom of the ocean.

The choice of material is not accidental, but part of the message of the work itself: for the creator, glass is the perfect medium to narrate this reality since, among its many qualities, its intrinsic fragility represents life itself.
