Do you want to be part of the wool movement? Start by getting to know this world from the inside: Learn from the wool workers, walk the landscapes that wool has shaped and understand the role it plays in the balance of the landscape.
Join a movement from June 26th to 28th and discover a nearly forgotten world: wool as thread that has woven landscapes, paths, and crafts that still endure. In recent decades, this natural, local material, independent of petroleum, has lost the place it held for centuries, to the point of being treated in many regions as a waste product with no commercial outlet.
A route that connects the wool producers who are part of the "Wool Route" of the "Descomunal" social project by the Ecoagroturismo Foundation, weaving experiences and accompanying you on this journey of connecting with wool and discovering all its values. Learn all about wool processing.
What awaits you in this experience from June 26th to 28th?
Over the weekend, we'll talk about sheep, local breeds, types of wool, and their properties. We'll explore their history, their decline, the challenges faced by shepherds, and the current state of wool. We want to show you that it's not waste and restore its true value. The qualities of wool are unimaginable, and on our journey toward its revaluation, we'll show you the various possible uses.
By the end of this experience, you'll have a basic understanding of wool so you can work with it on your own. We'll learn how to treat wool, including washing, carding, and combing. We'll also work with the wet felting technique to create a small piece. The sheer freedom this material offers is fascinating; there are no limits, and all you need are these ingredients: wool, water, soap, two tireless hands, and all your heart poured into every project.
