My work consists of copying well-documented and historically important instruments. I prefer not to redesign them, except perhaps by adding the ability to transpose or a few notes
...By copying, I mean reproducing the materials and dimensions of the original as faithfully as possible, including the (almost exclusive) use of animal glue, aware that my workshop offers me possibilities that the workshops of the luthiers whose instruments I am copying did not have. While a plane and a handsaw allow me to remove a lot of wood with great precision, a band saw, a planer, a thickness planer, a molding machine, and a wide-belt sander are indispensable for my production of approximately nine instruments per year.
